Bob Wright
1933 – 2020
Bob was a long-time collector and a founding member of the Prairie Mountain Philatelic Society. Sadly, he left us on December 4, 2020, at the age of 87 years.
Bob’s passion for collecting began during the Second World War, when he lived in Blackpool, England. His most treasured items were from the 1800s, including the prized Vermilion Beaver and Queen Victoria stamps from 1859.
As we celebrate Bob’s contributions to our club, we fondly remember his sense of humour, his good-natured insistence on “Robert’s Rules of Order,” and the joy he took from our regular meetings.
Ed Burgess
1941 – 2019
Ed was an avid collector and a founding member of the Prairie Mountain Philatelic Society. He passed away with his family at his side on November 24, 2019, at the age of 78 years.
Ed’s collection was started by his father. As he carried the tradition forward, he took great joy in finding and meticulously organizing Canadian and world stamps. His loving wife Jeannie was often at his side, helping him research the history of his favourite items.
We remember Ed not just for his passion for collecting, but also for his willingness to share that excitement with others. His philatelic knowledge and bighearted support of our events will be missed.
